The Fashion of Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin was one of the first rock bands to break gender norms in their fashion. They were often seen in flowery prints, low rise jeans with eccentric belt buckles, sequens and glitter. I think their fashion sense was extremely ahead of their time, and I'm sure many people in the height of their fame criticized them for their feminine features in their outfits.
Outfits of this nature were rare for the time period. The flower embelishment on Jimmy Page's suit adds a flair that made Led Zeppelin who they are; forever breaking barriers. In the recording of The Song Remains the Same, their concert film from Maddison Square Garden in 1973, all of the members can be seen wearing their groupie's clothing. Aside from Page, who was in a blinged-out celestial suit, covered with moons and stars.
Led Zeppelin has been a huge fashion inspiration for me, and they have totally inspired me to come out of my comfort zone. Staying within your gender of clothing doesn't have to be mandatory! Get out an explore your options, you may end up being an icon living. ;)

  2. Love this post! androgynous fashion is really a staple of rock culture in general which I always found fascinating. We see this in artists today like Willow Smith and Harry Styles. It always stirs conversation and stimulates the eyes. These flashy outfits help to amplify the artists persona and creativity.
